Frequently Asked Questions
What is your pickup area?
We will pick you up at your location anywhere in the Boise, Meridian, Nampa and Caldwell areas. Sorry, areas east of Boise, and North of Eagle are out of our pickup zone. Please inquire for areas west of Caldwell (Marsing, Middleton, etc.) We are happy to drop you off in a different location than your pick up if you like, within reason.
Which wineries do you go to?
We do not have a set route and every day is an adventure. We have a repertoire of about 30 wineries that we frequent. You can rest assured that they are all special and high quality in their own way. We tend to focus on the smaller boutique wineries that are off the beaten path, but we might take you to one of the big guys just so you can get a well-rounded look at what the Valley is doing. The overall focus is on high quality wines and friendly, informative staff.
How many wineries will we go to?
We will visit four wineries during your tour. This allows for a leisurely pace, taking in all the valley has to offer. I do not recommend more than four wineries in one day, as “palate fatigue” will set in and the wines will all begin to taste the same.
How do you choose which wineries to go to each day?
There are several considerations we take into account when planning the itinerary for the day. If you state any preferences on style we will factor that in. If you have any specific requests on places to go, we will try to accommodate those when possible. If you just leave it up to us, we will put together a well-rounded day with a focus on variety, scenery, quality wines, and interesting, educational experiences. Your best bet is to just sit back, relax, and let the day unfold and we will share our knowledge of the Snake River Valley with you.
What is the duration of the tour?
It varies, but most of the wineries are open from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and that is the time frame within which we structure our tours. We pick you up at 11:00 or 11:30 a.m. and drop you off usually somewhere between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. If you need to be back by a certain hour, please let the driver know and we will ensure it.
Do you offer a half-day tour?
Sorry, all tours are full day only. There simply isn’t enough time in a half day to enjoy the breadth of wine country.
Do you combine us with other people?
Groups of 4 or more are always private tours. Groups of two and three are booked as “combo” tours and you may be combined with another small group (two or three people). We will never combine you into a group that totals more than six. We like to keep things small, manageable, and intimate so you get the full enjoyment of a personalized tour.
What’s the largest group size you can accommodate?
At this time, the largest group we can accommodate is eleven.
Why can’t I book a tour as a solo traveler?
I understand this rule can be frustrating for solo travelers. Please understand that it was a decision we did not take lightly and we regret any inconvenience it may cause any of you wonderful solo adventurers. We have found that the format of our tours is such that the group dynamic can be a little awkward when there’s someone without a travel companion to fall back on. Our “combo tours” are not your typical “joinable tour” where it becomes a party atmosphere. It’s usually two couples making an intimate group of four. We learned by trial and error that it’s best that everyone has a buddy going into it. There are other wine tour companies that offer the more standard “joinable tours” that welcome solo travelers, and we would be happy to point you in their direction. Thank you for your understanding!
